The Kamniška Bistrica Valley is full of various interesting sights which you can visit in a couple of hours stroll through the valley. A stop at the river spring and a small artificial lake by the guest house Dom v Kamniški Bistrici is always a good idea. This is the end of the valley and a starting point for several hiking trips to the Kamnik Alps.
Walking the trail of the famous architect Jože Plečnik
In the vicinity of the spring (10 minutes walk down the gravel road, to which you turn left before the Dom v Kamniški Bistrici) stands the Mansion of King Alexander (Dvorec Kralja Aleksandra), built by the plans of the architect Jože Plečnik. Continue your walk past the mansion along the gravel road and after 15 minutes you will reach a memorial park, hidden in a small grove under the peaks of Kamnik Alps. The park is dedicated to all who lost their lifes in the Kamniško-Savinjske Alps. You can end your walk by crossing the dry riverbed of Kamniška Bistrica. Then you can return down the gravel road to the Dom v Kamniški Bistrici.
30m deep Predaselj Gorge
Another interesting sight is the Predaselj Gorge, located a kilometer before the end of the valley by the local road Kamnik - Kamniška Bistrica. The gorge is at it's deepest part 30m deep, and at some parts only 1,5 m wide. In recent years you can take a look at the gorge through an interesting and a bit different view, with the help of a Tyrolean traverse. (ink na 3.5).
How to get to Kamniška Bistrica?
The end of the valley (Dom v Kamniški Bistrici) is 3km away from the Kraljev hrib guest house. If you go there by car, it will take you only a couple of minutes. As this is a popular cycling route, you can also reach it by bicycle or on rollerblades.
The third possibility is a hiking route by the river, called Koželjeva pešpot. This route beginns in the village Stahovica, but you can start your walk directly below the campsite (gravel road) and continue your walk past the Predaselj Gorge all the way to Kamniška Bistrica. This is a bit more than an hour walk.
